Paula Youens SWAc. I graduated from Exeter College of Art with a professional career as a freelance illustrator, working extensively for the Guardian, Observer, Independent, Country Living and Cosmopolitan with 12 years on The Times editorial art team. Relocation to the Southwest in 2003 inspired a return to fine art and drawing.

An art school training led on to a professional career as an illustrator/designer working with national newspapers & magazines in London & Cambridge. I relocated to the Southwest in 2004 & membership in 2009 of Exeter’s DE Printworkshop kickstarted a second career. Paula originally trained in Graphic Design & Illustration, and worked as a professional illustrator for many years. She is now working as an artist and printmaker. Paula is most interested in what she describes as 'the shabbier, forgotten side of life...the empty shops, lost people, shadows & weeds, rockpools & wrecks, dark corners & strange encounters'.
