    Philip Hardaker was born in Harrogate, North Yorshire, in 1954. In 1975 he attended Harrogate College of Art and then went to the North Staffordshire Polytechnic. Here he gained a first class honours degree in Fine Art Sculpture. He moved to London in 1977 where he attended the Royal College of Art and gained an M.A in Fine Art Ceramics in 1980.

    In 2015 Phil was commissioned by the Houses of Parliament and the Speakers Art Fund to design and create a ceramic mosaic lectern to be placed in Haywood 6th form College at Burslem Town Hall, Staffordshire. The work was made using recycled 19th century Minton tiles from the House of Commons floor, originally produced in Stoke-On-Trent.
