    In the spring of 1985, seven New York-based women artists met in a SoHo loft in response to an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art – An International Survey of Painting and Sculpture – in which only 13 of 169 artists on display were women. Thus began the Guerrilla Girls – a group of feminist artists and activists intent on exposing and fighting discrimination in the art world.
