I have recently got my hands on a premier artist maple kit and I have to say I am extremely impressed. The finish is beautiful mine is in Rosewood lacquer and is real eye candy but the sound is even better.5/5(1)

I've always felt that Premier drums have some of the best tones in the market because they make their shell a little smaller than the drumhead that enables the bearing edge to make better contact. The Resonators have a great sound, I play them daily. The hardware is the main issue for me with Premier drums.

Mar 24, 2005 · Premier series are 3mm undersized. If you get a chance to look at a kit, you'll notice there is a little more of a gap between the collar of the drum head and the actual shell. The artist series isn't as undersized. From what I've looked at there wasn't anything that struck me as a lower quality of wood being used for Artist.

With a kick drum and larger floor tom a full 4" wider than other popular varieties, the set-up is (as if it needs to be stated), aimed at rockers with something of a penchant for bombastic fills and earth-shuddering bass notes.

They sound great and you can really control the volume with the Birch, tight and focused sound, easy to play at any volume.5/5

As far as starter drum kits go the Premier Artist Birch does a fine job, it's quite versatile, can sound very nice when tuned well and is very easy to play.
