Following my discovery of the raku process while I was working on my Master’s Degree, I set a goal to create works in clay that would be perceived more as ‘art’ than ‘craft’. I feel very honored to have received many awards for my work with Raku; among the 1st place ribbons were two that are particularly meaningful to me.

It was serendipitous that using the Native American shapes and design worked perfectly with the raku process, the similar use of a carbonized clay surface was another bridge from East to West. My Raku pottery is bold with a strong sense of design, color, and passion. The shapes I create range from large upright vessels, to wide-mouthed vases, to mixed-media wall pieces, and freeform sculptures. I contrast bright colors with deep bronzes and light white crackle glazes.
