At Miami Dade Junior College I had the fortune of working with the realist sculptor Dwayne Hanson who turned me on to realism and all its forms. From Vermeer to Hopper and more contemporary artists like Richard Estes and Chuck Close. I loved the painterly techniques they used to render their images.

I chose ART as a present to myself for the work I had done in AIDS, Hospice, and you know….all the ones most folks don’t like to do. If you do service for fame, you lose your way. I actually did Light Chasers, initially, because Joe McGurl dared me to go make a difference for the representational painters on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Jul 10, 2017 · Peter Van Flores is an artist originally from the Lower East Side in New York City and has produced a mass amount of work in Orlando. His work draws inspiration from graffiti, vintage comics, and American icons. He will be part of a three-man show, titled Chevauchement Urban, at Redefine Gallery on July 20th from 6–10 pm.
