He later became a professor at the University of Cincinnati. Grooms was also a lithographer and lecturer, and a member of the Cincinnati Art Club. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Association of Professional Artists and the McDowell Society. He died at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati in 1989 when he was 88 years old. Reginald Grooms was a painter, watercolorist, lithographer and teacher. His students include many prominent and listed Cincinnati artists. The son of a wood engraver, Grooms took up watercolors and oils as a childhood hobby. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and in 1923 he went to Paris to study painting at the Académie Julian.
