Rimbun Dahan runs a range of artists’ residencies to encourage visual artists, choreographers and other creative individuals to explore and develop their artistic work. Established in 1994, the program has hosted more than 100 individuals who have benefited from the unique atmosphere of Rimbun Dahan to build their own artistic practice.
Visual artist Syed Fakaruddin is undertaking a 6-month residency at Rimbun Dahan from September to March 2020. During his residency, he is developing a series of works exploring the three layers of landscape painting: background, middleground and foreground.

Resident Artists Since 1994, over 100 artists in a variety of disciplines have lived and worked at Rimbun Dahan, in residencies from 2 weeks to 12 months. Over 30 artists were in residence for a whole year, as part of the Malaysia-Australia Visual Artist Residency (now called the Yearlong Visual Artist Residency).

This residency is recommended for artists seeking solitude, silence and/or space to focus on their work. Resident artists are expected to stay and work on site full-time.
