Said Adrus was born in 1958, in Kampala, Uganda. He lives and works between London, UK and Bern, Switzerland. Said Adrus was born in 1958, in Kampala, Uganda, in what was known as ‘British East Africa’. This seemingly straightforward biographical detail contains many pointers to the artist’s practice. His family arrived as part of the British colonial project to import large amounts of South Asian labour to its East African possessions to assist with the building of the railways etc at the turn of the 20th century.

Later Said Adrus came to Britain and studied Fine Art at Nottingham & London Universities. As an International Artist, for the past 20 years Said has worked on numerous projects in Europe, New York, Havana and more recently in Mumbai, India.
