Mar 27, 2015 · Sally Pettus was born in March of 1942. She studied at The Cleveland Institute of Art and Sarah Lawrence College. Quantum Leaf was commissioned by Melva Busksbaum after seeing some of the artist’s sculptures. Of Quantum Leaf the artist has said, “The leaf falls from a tree. It could land on water and die, and then the cycle of life begins again.”

From 1959 to 1990, Pettus worked in three distinct mediums: photography, pottery and painting. His book, Continental Drift , is a bound retrospective of most of that work. Currently residing in New York City and Sharon, Connecticut, Pettus writes extensively on science and art for various publications, including The New York Sun .
