For almost 30 years I was a staff photographer at the Ft. Wayne Journal Gazette newspaper. In 2004 I began a painting career, translating his passion for detail and realism from the digital world into fine art oils. My paintings have been featured –and won awards- in museums and galleries from Ft. Wayne across the United States.

A native of Bloomington, Indiana, I enlisted in the US Navy after graduating high school. After 10 years of traveling the world as a naval photographer I returned to home to Indiana to complete a journalism degree at Indiana University. For almost 30 years I was a staff photographer at the Ft. Wayne Journal Gazette newspaper.

Samuel Hoffman enjoyed a 10-year adventure as a Photographer’s Mate in the US Navy before returning to Indiana to complete a photojournalism degree at Indiana University. Since 1990, his day job is as a staff photographer at a Midwestern paper, but since 2004, he has been capturing his memories of the sea and his wanderings on canvas.

Born in New York City on July 23, 1903, Hoffman studied violin under Ovide Musin and at 14 was the youngest musician to play Loew's New York Roof Garden.
