Sean now lives in New Zealand and is profoundly impressed by New Zealand’s beautiful landscape. Sean Chen is an Expressionist painter, whose painting style takes and combines the elements of Expressionism with explorations of brush strokes, colours and tones. He merges Eastern and Western elements in his art creations with particular emphasis on the multicultural aspects of New Zealand.

Sean Chen was born in China in 1956 and moved to Auckland in 1988, where he worked in advertising before choosing to work as a full time artist. In 2003 he completed a Post Graduate Degree at Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland.
