As I've matured as an artist, I find evoking mood and atmosphere in my work has become my primary focus. The relationships of things and the emotion of a given moment holds my interest. Working en plein air for many years has developed a sensitivity to and a depth of knowledge for the effects of light and atmosphere on the landscape.

Sharon Griffes Tarr is a Michigan native whose childhood interests in the arts were encouraged through lessons in dance and painting. Ballet studies in Detroit coincided in her teens with drawing and painting lessons by nationally known artist, Leland Beaman.
