Dec 03, 2014 · In 8.0, whenever the music hub shows the artist image within the app, the lock screen shows the same image. So all you have to do is to download Music Hub Tile to access the old music hub and play all artists on it to manually force it to download the artist images.

Oct 10, 2014 · I have since received the official Cyan update through AT&T, but I am still on the most current version of the preview including all the updates for the Xbox Music app. When the WP8.1 preview was first released, the Xbox Music app did not display the currently playing artist on the lock screen unless I toggled the setting off and back on.

Album art won't show in lockscreen, the option in settings to show artist when playing music will show you a picture of the artist if it is in the zune database. It doesn't work very well as sometimes I don't get the lockscreen picture coming up even with a popular artist.
