Mar 26, 2010 · #1 I finally had some time to get some pictures of my 1958 Silvertone Artist, also known as the 1522S Rhythm Tone. Anyone who knows the Valco/Supro/National/Silvertone line is probably familiar with the body style, pickups, etc. and the fact that all of these aforementioned brands shared that body style for Dual Tones, Belmonts, and Stylists.

Aug 11, 2008 · It has some similarities to the Supro Rhythm Tone and Belmont models of the late 1950s, with a different headstock, scratchplate/pickguard and tailpiece. The serial number X86897 puts it in early 1958. Valco also made a two-pickup solid body guitar for Sears /Silvertone in 1958, much like the first version of the Supro Dual Tone. For some reason the two Valco guitars were given the same model name by Sears …

Here for sale is a one humbucker Silvertone Rhythm Tone made by Valco in Chicago sometime around 1958. This is one of my favorite guitars I have ever had, it is a great player. Maybe the best playing vintage guitar I have ever held, and it looks like something out of Jack White's wildest fantasies. The action is super low and comfortable.

This Artist model was based on the Supro Rhythm Tone, essentially a single pickup version of their Dual Tone model (notably played by David Bowie). It features Kluson tuners, a bolt-on neck and Rosewood fingerboard, with one single coil pickup in the neck position.
