Founded in 1945, South Shore Artists Group expanded from a handful of members to a forty strong group of professionally educated and self taught artists located in Staten Island, New York. The South Shore Artists Group had its beginnings in 1945 when an artist named Thea Wilbur Olsen and a few friends got together to paint in Wolf’s Pond Park for the benefit of Richmond Memorial Hospital.

Alongside Work, Fight, Give, South Shore Arts is also exhibiting 120 of the 225 posters created by Minneapolis-based artist Piotr Szyhalski during the Covid-19 pandemic from March to November, 2020. Szyhalski’s COVID-19: Labor Camp Reports project is the artist’s response to the pandemic and the political climate surrounding the last several months.
