    After studying and receiving experience of the European Art from 1949 to 1957 he works in the Royal museum in Britain for one year. After returning to Sri lanka in 1952 , he receives the post of assistant lecture in Technical college. Though he was studied in Europe , he did not follow the concept and theories in Art.     Stanley Abeysinghe born on 26 January 1914 was one of the most versatile painters of modern Sri Lanka. He was Principal of the Government of College of Fine Arts from 1965 to 1969. In recognition of his invaluable contribution to the field of painting and art education he was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Fine Arts) by the University of Kelaniya in 1991.
