On July 31, 1957, the Bagley Building Corp. sold the United Artists Building for $3.2 million (about $24 million today) to the Detroit Automobile Inter-Insurance Exchange at the Automobile Club of Michigan. The exchange bought the building to provide permanent office space for the exchange and the auto club.
