Opened in December 1924, the 1,425 seat Cross Bay Theatre was for many years a Randforce house and then United Artists. It was twinned in the 1970’s, and in the early-1980’s a third auditorium was built in space once occupied by retail stores. In 1992 United Artists opened the Crossbay II a few blocks away with eight screens.

The Rivoli Theatre, one of the greatest of all New York City theatres, was demolished after closing in June 1987.
