Hi, I'm on photoshop CC19. I've noticed that the 'artistic' filters are greyed out when ever I want to apply an artistic filter to an image. I used to like and use the grain filter which I think was listed in the artistic filter gallery, but that no longer is available.

You see, a great number of filters are from an old batch of filter effects Adobe acquired many versions back, and those filters haven’t been updated to modern standards. So, while they will work with 8-bit files, they won’t work with 16-bit files.

Jul 10, 2013 · If you have an adjustment layer (like curves, levels, etc.) highlighted in the layers pallet, practically all the filters will be greyed out, because you can't apply a filter to an adjustment layer (though you could select the filter's mask and apply the filter, but it may not give the effect you expect).

Jul 23, 2018 · If you try to sort a range of cells that are partially within a table and partially outside a table, you’ll find that the Sort and Filter options are grayed-out and unusable, even though the cells might look completely ordinary! The only way to tell for certain if a cell is contained within a Table is to click on it and look at the Ribbon.

Dec 07, 2018 · no, My table already have filter buttons in the header row as shown in the picture and they work too. the FILTER BUTTON in DATA TAB is greyed out for some reason only for this table. that post isn't for me, but thanks anyways for trying to help.
