    Dr William Crotch was born in Norwich. He was a musical prodigy, performing at the age of four in London on the organ and piano, and by the age of 11 was at Cambridge studying music and became Professor of Music in 1797. He moved to London around 1810 and became the first Principal of The Royal Academy of Music.
