William North (Sept. 6, 1927-Oct. 13, 2011) was a distinguished painter of the tropical Florida scene. An early interest in art and painting resulted in his assignment as an artist correspondent in the U.S. Army (1945-47) and the fulfillment of a lifelong desire to carry on the tradition of the great age of impressionism by painting landscapes outdoors and still lifes in his studio.

William H North is a British watercolour landscape artist painting mainly scenes from Otmoor in Oxfordshire but he also finds inspiration from his travels abroad. "I have painted in Poland, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and the USA. A trip to China a few years ago was fruitful for new subjects. My paintings are in private collections around the world."

Biography. Oxfordshire based William North is a self-taught artist working mainly in watercolour who has been painting full-time for nearly 30 years. "I find this medium ideal for depicting the flat and moody landscape around where I live at Otmoor in Oxfordshire," he says. "We have large expanses of skies that are reflected in the streams and regular flood water.
