Charles Beck Printmaker Charles Beck was born and raised in Fergus Falls, MN and he returned there to establish himself as an artist after completing military service and graduate school in the 1950s.

Charles Beck, one of the most recognized artists in Minnesota, was born in Fergus Falls in 1923. He began drawing in grade school, often trading his work with other students for candy and marbles. He was especially well known for his wood cuts. Much of his work reflected the area around Fergus Falls, MN (Otter Tail County). People would call it "Beck Country."
