David was born in Beaufort, S.C. He moved to California at a young age, as a result of his father being transferred to a Marine Corps base. His family returned to the south and settled in Augusta,Ga. where David first started creating detailed sketches and drawings. His first trip to Claude Monets estate in Giverny, France, sparked his interest in Impressionism, which later evolved into Tonalism.
