After WWII, Hal Reed studied a the Art Center School of Los Angeles and in the 1950s at the Art League of San Francisco. In the mid-1950s he studied with Nicolai Fechin at Fechin's Santa Monica studio. Hal founded the Art League of Los Angeles where he taught classes.
