Henry Tanworth Wells (14 December 1828 – 16 January 1903) was an English miniature and portrait painter. He was a member of the Pre-Raphaelite circle though he painted in the academic style. His most popular painting was Victoria Regina, showing the young Queen Victoria receiving the news of her accession to the throne.

Henry Tanworth Wells was a pupil of the painter of portraits and historical subjects James Matthews Leigh. Wells initially specialised in miniature portraits but as the development of photography reduced demand, he began painting on a larger scale. Henry Tanworth Wells was born in December 1828. He trained as a lithographic draughtsman, but soon began work as a miniature painter. He was friends with many of the Pre-Raphaelites and met regularly with the likes of Rossetti, Frederick Smallfield and George Price Boyce, whose sister Joanna Mary he married in Rome in 1857.
