Young Artist Competition Seattle Flute Society

    The Seattle Flute Society is pleased to announce its 9th Annual Young Artist Competition. This year’s competition will be held virtually, with Preliminary Round entries due on February 22, 2021. Finalists will be selected and informed by March 2, 2021, and Final Round entries from the three selected finalists will be due by April 5, 2021.

    On December 1, the Seattle Flute Society announced its plans to hold virtual competitions in place of in-person events. The Frank & Lu Horsfall Competition, for students in grades 6-12; and the 9th Annual Young Artist Competition, for flutists under age 30, will both be presented via SFS Online.

    The Frank and Lu Horsfall Competition is for students in grades 6-12 and takes place every March. Our Young Artist Competition is open to flutists who have not reached their 30th birthday by the date of the competition. After a preliminary recorded round in February, three finalists are chosen to compete live at the annual Flute Festival in April.

    As an undergraduate Martha won prizes at the Mid-South Flute Society Young Artist Competition, the Pittsburgh Flute Club Young Artist Concerto Competition, and the National Flute Association’s Orchestral Audition Competition. During her final year at Colburn, Martha was named principal flute of the Fort Collins Symphony in Colorado.

Seattle Young Artists Music Festival Association SYAMFA
