Born 1952. Gillian trained in London and worked 35 years as resident botanical artist at the National Herbarium, the South African National Biodiversity Institute. She organized/ participated in numerous botanical art exhibitions nationally and internationally, founding member of the Botanical Artists Association of southern Africa in 1999.

Having worked as a Textile Designer for fifteen years, she turned to Botanical art in 2005. She has won many awards, winning Gold in the RHS Botanical Art Show in London in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2017, and Gold at BISCOT Edinburgh 2014. She continues to live and work in Australia exhibiting her paintings and teaching occasionally.
