Yang Yanping was born in Nanjing in 1934. In 1980 she was appointed an artist of the Beijing Academy. In 1986 she was awarded a fellowship for culture and education exchange with China at SUNY at Stony Brook, New York. She has exhibited widely since 1978 in China, Japan, America, France and Austria.
